Installation of SOME apps result in "subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1"

Reported by: WyldPhoenix Owned by: saurik

Description

Hi Guys,

I have noticed that while attempting to install SOME applications using the latest Cydia version the following happens:

1) The application downloads
2) There is a 'pop-up' error box with "Subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1"
3) The application does NOT install

Here is a list of applications that result in this error:

- SNES4iPhone
- IntelliScreen? 0.95BETA

Note: If you attempt to install the application a second time, it needs to download the files again.

Issuing the following commands, in this order, do NOT result in the removal of the error message.

apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Any ideas ????

Are you saying that this error gets stuck? If this is just a report that "installing these two packages causes these errors" then this isn't a bug in Cydia, it's a bug in the two packages and you should figure out who the maintainer is and report the issues.

This is, as saurik deduced, a problem with the packages, not Cydia.

At least "IntelliScreen?" is built with debicizer, which is ignoring the "If" clause. Since "SNES4iPhone" has an "IfNot?" clause it may be a similar problem, but definitely a problem with the packages.

Hmmm... But how on earth does one go about figuring out what the error messages like this one actually means ????

"Subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1"
